I'm Back! 6.60 reaction!

Hi Guys!

I'm back, it has been quite a while to be here! Now, let's discuss the new versions. This version became controversial because of the controversies before releasing it. Many people became excited when they knew many will be changed. There did some leak maps released and icefrog became upset because of that some beta maps. Though for some time, "teh frog" released some of the beta maps and seek other players reactions if they found bugs until it came.

6.60 came to the scene. Before releasing that, teh frog gave them some peeks to it and warned many players who still uses lower versions of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. He said that he will make maps just for the updated versions. We will talk about that later. In the 6.60 many carries were boosted. Such as Mortred's skill. She became powerful because it can now be harrasable. Also, Troll Warlord was boosted. He became an ASPD support to many heroes. He can now solo Roshan early which is very scary for some players. Item arrangement is very good.

Item additions are the best yet, league/clan players liked it. They can have tanks that can support. They can have counters against those pesky evasions. Some of the new items did not became that popular but the most popular of it, which became popular to some carries, is the Quelling Blade. It had it's popularity because this item DID make some carries farm faster. Personally, I love this item to make my damage in early game go higher(for the creeps) and farm faster than expected.

There was a hero re-made, specifically, Razor. Many liked it since razor can now carry mid-game and late-game. Plasma field is just a quite awesome skill that can damage a hero two times. Second skill is great for late-games since you are just attacking and almost all of your nuking spells are worthless. Third skill is very awesome too. That can make Razor a tank for one-targeted spells. Last, Eye of the Storm is a quite awesome DoT spell. This makes chasing you a hazrd or even chasing enemies though it had its own back fires.

The biggest change in the version is the addition of two new heroes. First, only TC was the only one players knew about then a beta version came. They saw Batrider. Some said Batrider was lame. NO. Batrider is a great ganker and gank initiator. He has a spell which can make multiple TP disrupted. BUT! The one players loved/hated, is TC. They said that .60 is the TC map. Having those skills made him a great gank initiator and a MD(mass damager). Many players loved him because of his power to stun in a large AoE and to have a walking nuking guy. The skills who are feared to him are Natural Order and Earth Splitter. The combination of those skills made him a great nuker. Seeing them reduced by 80& and dealing them 35% of their hp. It's just like a great nuke!

DotA Sites

I will make up to you guys. I will gonna post again.

No will talk about the dota sites that I stumbled upon. There are really different personalities in the dota sites. And I created this for what icefrog said in his blog.

First let's go to www.Dota-Allstars.com

This is the first dota site ever created. I've visited the website and posts there. They topics there are helpful but some are just spamming threads like "who is countering this hero?" like that. In my first experience there, I realized that the site is not new user friendsly. There are old topics that still there. The lay-out has long time to load. There are no quick replies! Darn so I have to push that reply button. Also, I see that the people there are not that friendly. It seems like the persons there are always replying to the topic starter only. They do not comment to each other. I experienced that it is getting boring since like every topic about dota is discussed there. So I felt like what icefrog felt. Differences.

Second let's go to the second site where dota is the topic, www.DotaPortal.com

It's hard getting to the forum there since it is ESnation. I think that this site has the most person-friendly databas and also the most updated database. They also give additional info in there home page. Also, there is a shoutbox too. Still I'm bored by the not that activeness of the boards there.

Next stop is the GArena Forums.

I visited there and it was good but, again, the boards are not that active. If you post now, you will get comments maybe 5 minutes after you post it. I also saw, when I visited the forum for filipinos there, that it is kinda boring in the part there. I think there is nothing more that I can say. mmmmm......

Damn, it is spammer land. I posted my guide there then the guys there are replying in smilies, k, or something that cant help with the or no reason for posting in that thread. I checked the rules and then they said that there are no rules. No rules for sig size limit. Damn it was like mayhem there. Every people spam. It seems like the moderators aren't moderating there. I see people not posting in the right thread. So I decided it was chaos there. I also realized that people there are so pessimistic. I said that there should be a password in thir garena room then people then tell that there should be no password because no one's getting there but when I saw the room, there are so many people. O_o. weird.

Lastly, my favorite place, www.DotAStrategy.com

All in all, this is my favorite and most visited dota site. They have the next largest community next to DA. They are the third major dota site that became popular. At first, te site was dominated by filipino guys, but because of the good guides. It became an international site. At this site I learn how to be a forumer. I have stayed more than two years in the site and the attitude of the people there became more mature. I also saw that the board there is really friendly though in some cases they will just pawn you with the mighty search engine of DS. Though the dota forums are not that active anymore, the random forums are the ones that becoming popular. It seems like when there is nothing new in the dota threads, they will just go to the random threads. Though they have strict rules, it feels like it is very comfortable and they have warnings to. So come join us, I know you will like it there.

Leak Maps

I'm back!

Probably I'm on vacation since it is vacation time here in the phil so I'm back!

Let's talk about leak maps.

This leak maps are somewhat fault by some beta testers. They just want to make the other players to see the bugs to help them. Especially that there are many changes in the 6.60 map.

The leaking of maps that are waited by the people are very often now. It's just like a spoiler for the next map. That's why at the realease of the map where there is Admiral, his name is captain Obvious.

This leak maps can be helpful too. It makes the other league players or tournament players to practice or to see what will happen at the next map. Also, to take advantage for the games they will play at that map.

6.59d WUT??

I'll probably be releasing 6.59d in a day or two. There are a couple bugs/exploits that started appearing recently. While I know that some players don't like to keep downloading new maps, I think is best to fix this now instead of holding it off for 6.60 so it isn't too rushed.

Some may think that it is good. Some may think that this is bad. Why good? DUH! NO MORE BUGS! Why bad? Because we kept waiting for 6.60 and then we will just see another map that is a remade map.

Recently I found this quite interesting that some of the gamers still play 6.59b though in many cases that version has a lot of bugs and still it is used up to today. I found it in GArena and other games. But when there are PUB games, they always stick with the recent map or the stable map.

This version can be a stable version(I don't know?) because of there will be no(hoping too!) bugs and glitches that can cause gaming bad. I think making this versions concerns many a lot. Still we are the ones who will decide what map to play to right?

So let us wait! Let us hope that this will go to 6.59f!

Icefrog Enraged

There seems to be a lot of confusion going on the net. Various leak websites have people posting under my username to confuse players. I'm not sure why some players think that I would post there, but it seems like many do based on the volume of emails regarding it.

Aside from the data in this post, I have not said anything regarding 6.60 at all. It is also not my last version. As I have stated before, I have no plans to stop updating the map anytime soon.

Well for me this is the most powerful items if this item is match with DPS Lifesteal Heroes. This item helps a lot in team ganks(for survivability and for extra strenght). Though you are losing quite and hp you are gaining strenght when you activate it. This is why some common tanks use this item. Personally, I find it hard not to use this without the help of Lifesteal items. I once used this item to Faceless Void that I purchased a Helm of the Dominator. I decided to buy this because of the bonus AS and for the bonus strenght(that came from the activated unholy strenght). All of us know that FV has a very low bas strenght that's why I bult this. As a result, FV became more powerful in ganks and more viable in ganking solo. We also know that FVv has a high base attack so I bought Lifesteal item to counteract the loss of life in armlet.

Why did Armlet and Lifesteal Items are Combo?

As I said earlier, Liefsteal counteracts to the loss of life when Armlet is activated. This with the heroes attack damage. Heroes that you will found using this has high bas damage or has a skill that can raise the attack damage. Heroes like:

  2. Troll Warlord
  3. Sven
  4. Mortred
  5. Magnataur
  6. Phantom Lancer
  7. Slardar
And many more!

So now try it, I will assure you that your gaming will be more better.

The totems give him large amount of regeneration so try to activate it far away.

Base Abilities

What are Base Abilities?

Many players of DotA rarely knows this. This are the abilities which the DotA heros skills are based upon. This abilities are the original ones that came from Warcraft Frozen Throne Campaign. If you played campaign in Warcraft TFT you can see that it is the base ability of such things in DotA. Some, if you go to Dota-Allstars WIKI, you can't believe that that is its own base ability. I will give you examples.

Razor's Chain Lightning is adopted from Wc3TFT Chain Lightning
Mana Void is based upon Storm Bolt
Chain Frost is based upon a sequential Frost Nova
Quill Spray is based upon Fab of Knive
Presence of the Dark Lord is based upon(You can't believe it) in Devotion Aura
and many more...

So far the heroes that do not have spells that has a base ability are:

Clockwerk Rattletrap
Puck
Ezalor
Windrunner
Dazzle
Spectre
and Witch Doctor

I think that many should know this for the main purpose of knowing where'd it came from. Not by just not going to the back of it.

Spectre and Enigma Changes and I saw a Bug

First, let's go to Spectre change.

* Spectral Dagger no longer gives vision

Yes I know this is a pain to many Spectre users that uses dagger as a hunting tool.

So this is a pic of it.




I casted Dagger and did not saw a thing. OMG.

It really makes hard to scout many of the terrains and killing that pesky crow!

2nd: Enigma's Conversion skill

I let them attack the neutral creeps and suddenly one multiplied! How about that!

Now this skill is now great for jungling and for pushing too. I remembered my friend picks this in his skill build and it effects really great. Great help for denying the creeps w/o exp for the enemy.

Roshan Bug

Sorry but I can't post a pic yet. It occurred when I am playing in single mode and testing the new map. I was Darkchrow and I went to Rosh just for an easy money!$$. Rosh came to me and then I casted Midnight ulse and Malefice to it. He then goes to my place and went straight pass me and went to the ramp going to the scourge Ancient camp site. He sat there for about 5 seconds then goes back to his throne. I think it's a bug. So if you want t check it out try it.

The Tauren Chieftain!!!!

Icefrog said that there will be a Hidden Side quest for every .x9 versions of DotA map(I think his favorite number is 9??) and now, due to the release of 6.59, there will be a hidden side quest for the said version. I that quest is for Tauren Chieftain.

I think this is the best made character in the history of Warcraft and this is my favorite one too.

Many players will enjoy this quest.

I have an idea that there will be frogs to search again. The quest battle, I think, will be done in the corner left where the -rd is made.

Experimental Runes
====================
This temporary mode changes the rune system to a more experimental one. I will be changing how -er works from version to version to try out different ideas. I don't plan on any one version of the new runes to replace the current system directly, so do not panic Well Instead, it will be used as something to create discussion, spark ideas, find flaws and playtest different concepts over time.

How -er works for this version: Runes spawn simultaneously on both sides at 3 minute intervals (instead of 2). Again I have no plans to make this permanant.



Notes: I wanted to release this sooner rather than later because of some important code fixes. I am planning on finishing the traditional .x9 quest for v6.59b (along with some more balance tweaks) and then followed by TC in 6.60 if everythings work out right.

Update: I'm getting lots of emails asking me what .x9 and TC are. Every 9 version there is a hidden side quest in the map. TC is the Tauren Chieftain hero model.

But why so fast?? Too early, that's alright there will still be a 6.59b. Another one, I think there will be a bug about the model of Abaddon. The changes are just great but can still be affects the gameplay of every single player.

The Basher Bug(6.58)

Damn!

I experienced this bug with my friend. Okay, here's the scene.

We are playing a 2v1 game. My opponent is Darkterror. Then he goes to roshan and then I casted Ice Path then I saw him hitting roshan and always doing bash. He then sees me and time walk to me and then bash, bash , bash. The neverending bash!!!

For those who didn't know this bug. You just buy Cranium then BASH BASH BASH but just only to permabasher heroes.

Thanks to everyone that sent me bug reports for 6.58. I just released 6.58b after many countless hours of bug hunting. Let me know if I missed anything and what you want to see in 6.59. I will begin work on it after I wake up tomorrow morning, though I might sleep a little extra to make up for the last few nights :)

6.58 DotA Recent Changes

Ah..... the first reaction.

You will now here my reactions and what I've hear about the recent dota map that is released.

First

Has visual effect to show when it is active

Extra Note: Since people regularly misunderstand how this works, the damage returned is reduced twice, first when you get the damage and then again when you deal it back. For example, a 300 damage nuke gets reduced by 25% because of hero resistance, then it gets dealt back as magical damage, being reduced by another 25% (or whatever magical resistance the enemy has).

I think it is a not so that great change. Heroes that need protection to DPS'ers are now vulnerable by ridding the passive skill of this item. The 100% damage that you will get after the damage inflicted is further being reduced so I think it should be furthermore balanced. Let's do the calculation:

Let's say you received 100 physical damage and has 25% resistance.

100 * .25 = 25

100 - 25 = 75

Then the damage that will get back to the enemy is 75 but it will further more reduced to the enemy heroes magic reduction.

Let's have the normal magic reduction.

75 * .25 = 18.75

75 - 18.75 = 56.25

56.26 will be the damage dealt to the enemy.

Well, my friend says its alright but I say it's great change.

Now it's balanced! Permabashers are now angry because of this change. The old basher seems to be good but now that it is balanced it is quite a yes or a no factor. Then there's the cooldown. So for every bash the item will have a cooldown that can activate bash. I think many will ignore this item again and would rely to their AS for their bash.

It's more better this way. Why? The total mana is now covered up in your manacost. See the old one. If you compute it, you will cost a lot of mana than the new one and you will have mana that transfers to you to made up that loss mana. Now, there is no HP cost too. Horray! This means you do not need to sacrifice your self. The damage now is like a nuke that is slowly but rudely killing you.



Venomancer's Poisonus Gale

At last a multiple slow and damage in one shot. Just like the old shadow's strikes damage, it is the damage of it too. Well the shadow strike is just made to be an AoE so no affect to a single unit but if there is many units in the line, you're in for luck and farming.







Vengeful Spirit's Wave of Terror

Old Terror:

Reduces damage and armor of units in an area around you.

AoE: 700
Cooldown: 15
Duration: 20

Damage Reduction: 5/10/15/20%
Armor Reduction: 2/3/4/5

Wave of Terror:
=============
Releases a wave of terror moving forward that reduces enemy units armor and damage. You have vision over the wave as it moves forward.

Damage Reduction: 5/10/15/20%
Armor Reduction: 2/3/4/5

Just like Venomancer's Poisonus gale, it's just like a one line armor reduction and damage reduction. For now, it is really good because many units can now be hit by the minus armor of it.
